Delay compensation

Lots of train companies offer compensation if the service that you are travelling on is delayed for more than 30 minutes. If your journey is delayed, you should contact the train company directly. Can I change or cancel my ticket?

If you book in advance and wish to travel at a different time, you can change the time and date of your ticket through the ‘my account’ section of the Trainline website. There will be a fee for this. Off peak or Anytime tickets can be changed and are fully refundable.

You can collect your tickets from a self service machine 15 minutes after purchasing. To collect, you need to have the debit/credit card that you paid with, as well as the ticket reference number.

What is an open return?

Open returns are tickets that are flexible, as you do not specify the date and time you want to return on. You just have to make the journey by the date specified, which is usually 28 days after the outward journey has taken place.
