The History of Sky
SKY is part of the British Sky Broadcasting Group which was formed by the merger between SKY Television and British Satellite Broadcasting in 1990. The company is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is estimated to have a market capitalization of 11.47 billion pounds. However, things weren’t always this rosy; the company was hemorrhaging weekly losses of about 1.5 million pounds a week when Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation took over in 1991. Within one short year, Murdoch was able to turn the tide, helping the company make a profit of 100,000 pounds per week.
SKY went through an evolution of sorts, from being a pay TV service which concentrated heavily on sports to one that currently offers call and data services as well as attractive HD T.V options for those that desire it. Click here if you want to know more.
