Customer Services

Contact Scottish Power customer services on the phone by calling 0843 218 4725. They are only available to assist you between certain hours from Monday to Saturday. If there is an emergency, you can get 24/7 support for issues with gas or electricity supply. You should inform Scottish Power at least two days in advance if you are moving to a different address. This includes property occupancy changes for landlords and their tenants. If you decide to leave Scottish Power and go with a different supplier, call them to discuss the switching process. When a family member who is a Scottish Power customer passes away, let customer services know so you can settle any outstanding bills.

Meter Readings

Scottish Power will contact you about installing a new Smart Meter when they reach your area. You could register your interest online in advance to make sure that you get one as soon as they are available. Whether you currently have a prepayment or credit meter, a digital one or dials, an electricity meter or a gas meter, you can call 0843 218 9638 for guidance on how to read them. Depending on your payment method, you must provide regular readings to make sure that your bills are accurate. If there are any errors, you could end up owing more money or paying more than you should be. If you are due a visit from an engineer to take a reading, call this number to arrange it.

Payments

There are many ways to pay with Scottish Power, so you can manage your bills in the way that is most convenient for you. You could spread the cost into monthly payments with a Direct Debit, only pay for what you use with Pay As You Go, pay online by card, or set up a monthly cash payment plan. You can even pay at the bank, at PayPoint shops, or send a cheque. If your account is in credit, especially when leaving Scottish Power or moving house, you can request a refund of the balance. If you want a breakdown of your bill summary or you have problems with a payment, call 0843 557 3861. If you need help with paying your bill, find out if you are entitled to any discounts.

Online Account

You can register to create an online account on the Scottish Power website, or just log in if you already have one. An online account allows you to easily view and manage payments. You can enter meter readings and update your personal details without having to contact Scottish Power. However, if there is a problem with your online account, you should call 0843 596 4179 to get this resolved. You may not be able to access your online account if there is a problem with your log-in details. Or you might have trouble viewing your bills or switching your payments. You can check to see if there are any issues with the online service or the app. Call if you want to close down your account.

Complaints

At Scottish Power, there is a three-stage complaints process. If they cannot resolve your complaint during the first contact, it moves on to the second stage. A dedicated team member will acknowledge your complaint and give you a reference number you can use in the Complaints Tracker. Your complaint should be resolved within 14 days. If it isn’t, it will move on to the third stage, where they will investigate and provide a final response within 8 weeks. You can call 0843 596 4180 at any point to report a new complaint or discuss an ongoing complaints process. If you are not happy after 8 weeks, you can ask for an internal review or go to the energy services Ombudsman to intervene.

Priority Services

If you need some extra support with managing your Scottish Power account, you should join the Priority Services Register. Yourself or somebody in your home must have a disability or chronic illness or have any type of special needs. Being a pensioner or experiencing a change in circumstances like death or divorce also makes you eligible for Priority Services. Scottish Power can provide alternative communication formats, or you can nominate another person to manage your bills for you. There are other services for your safety and security, including a free annual gas check. To join the register, or for assistance with a Priority Service if you are already on it, call 0843 596 4181.
