Nectar is the biggest loyalty scheme in the UK. It launched in 2002 with the four original partner companies being Sainsbury’s, BP, Barclaycard, and Debenhams. Though the last two have since left the scheme, the others are still partners, with Sainsbury’s purchasing the Loyalty Management Group scheme in 2018. Today, there are about 500 brands and retailers currently participating in the Nectar loyalty scheme. Nectar Cards allow customers to collect points when they shop with these retailers, and build up their points until they have enough to redeem for their selected rewards. In 2018, they are trialling new ways of collecting points instead of 1 point for every £1 you spend.

Nectar Cards

Contact Nectar by calling 0844 248 2571 if you need some help with signing up for a Nectar Card and creating an account. You can register online if you would prefer to do it that way instead of over the phone. Contact them if you have not received your new Nectar card in the post after 14 days. You can begin swiping the card whenever you shop at a participating retailer as soon as you get it. Call and request the key tag version of the card so that you can keep it on your key fob and always have it to hand. Nectar will issue a replacement card with the same number if your card gets damaged, or cancel it and send a new one if it gets lost or stolen, so call if this happens.

Customer Account

If you are the main cardholder of a Nectar account, you can call 0844 248 2572 for assistance. This includes making enquiries about your points, rewards, and Nectar cards. Add family or friends to your account so they can become cardholders and contribute to your points balance. If you don’t recognize something in your account activity, call to report this to Nectar. If somebody is spending your points without authorization, Nectar takes fraud seriously, so they will restore your points to a brand new account and close the old one. Call if you want to close down a Nectar account but transfer the points to another Nectar account to combine the two balances rather than losing them.

Nectar Points

Keeping track of your Nectar points balance is the most important part of having an account. Make sure that you are not mysteriously losing points, and that the correct amount of points from every transaction goes into your account. If you forget to swipe your Nectar card at the till, then find your receipt and call 0844 248 2573 to claim the points you would have earned for that transaction. Please allow 48 hours for your account to update either online or in the Nectar app before you call them about any missing points. You can call for help if you need some assistance with redeeming your Nectar points for rewards. Call this number if a problem occurs with your points.

Nectar App

If you have an iOS or Android smart device, you can download the Nectar App to make it easier for you to monitor your Nectar account at any time. You will be able to check your balance and view weekly offers, and even redeem your points while you’re out and about if you need to. The newer Nectar Browser Extension, which is replacing the Nectar Toolbar,  will remind you where you can spend points when you shop online. You can even collect points on your web searches. Complaints

If you experience a recurring problem with the Nectar scheme, call 0844 248 2575 to make a complaint about this. You might not be happy with the offers that you have been getting, especially if you know somebody else who has been getting better and more relevant offers than you. Complain about the quality of the customer support from Nectar if you frequently have issues which are not effectively resolved. You should call up to complain if you have wrongfully lost Nectar points or they have disabled your account without a valid reason. When you phone with a complaint, Nectar will investigate the problem and try to fix it quickly. Call if you want to cancel your membership.

Business Account

Employers can create an account with Nectar Business and register between 2 and 99 people to share the account. The business will share the points they all collect and each registered employee will have their own Nectar Card to use. Businesses can manage the points account and use them for discounts on essential office supplies or rewards for employees. Many of the partner brands in the Nectar scheme offer products and services which are suitable for business use. You can also contact Nectar customer services online using social media. Help is available through Facebook or Twitter during the same hours as the phone lines above. Alternatively, you can send a private e-mail straight to them at [email protected]. You could also try instant messaging with the Live Chat to receive faster responses. Another contact method is to write a letter to their head office address below, but this will obviously take longer. If you need help with a Nectar credit card or goods and services you bought with Nectar points, you will need to contact the provider or the retailer you spent your points with instead of Nectar customer services.
