Kindle Products and Services

A Kindle is an e-book reader, designed and manufactured by Amazon. It enables users to browse, download and read e-books, newspapers, magazines, documents, blogs and other digital media. There are thousands of books to choose from, from literary classics, to the Harry Potter series, the latest girly novel or the New York Times.  All come at affordable prices and are often cheaper than a paper book. There are currently three types of Kindle on sale, the basic, which is just an e-reader, the Paperwhite which has a higher screen resolution than the basic model and the Fire which is more like a tablet, and allows you to watch films and browse the internet. There are lots of advantages to having a Kindle besides the ability to read thousands of books: the screen allows you to read outside, as it is made of E Ink rather than LCD so it is more like a real book, it has up to one month battery life without charge and the books download in less than a minute so you can enjoy straightaway.

Kindle models

Basic Kindle

The Kindle has a basic model, with a touchscreen display, device storage of thousands of books, 1Ghz processor, a long battery life and lighter than paperback.

Kindle Paperwhite

Kindle Paperwhite has a 300 ppi display, so that it reads like real paper. It also has Bookerly, an easy to read font.

Kindle Voyage

The Kindle Voyage is a newer model. It has a high spec display, to read like a printed page. It also has a PagePress feature, to turn the page without lifting a finger.

Kindle Oasis

The Kindle Oasis is the newest model of the Amazon Kindle. It’s the thinnest and lightest model, with a new design featuring buttons to turn the page. It comes with a removable leather charging cover to further boost the battery life, so that it will last for months.

Kindle Unlimited

Kindle Unlimited lets users have the chance to try 700,000 books and thousands of audio books for just £7.99 a month. There is also a 30 day trial offered, if you are unsure how it would benefit it and want to see how much use you would get from it.

The titles included in the scheme ranges across genres, authors and adventures. There are also major titles too, such as the Harry Potter series, The Hunger Games trilogy and Life Of Pi, along with books such as The Moaning Of Life by Karl Pilkington.

There are also many Kindle books that come with a audio companion that has been professionally narrated. If you browse and see the “Kindle Unlimited with Narration” logo, you will be able to switch with no interruption from reading and listening, without losing your place, due to Whispersync for Voice. This also means that you can keep listening to the story even when you can’t read it, such as in the car, the gym and around the house.
