April 24th, 2015

New reports show that gardening could play a crucial part in living a longer and healthier life, according to experts. It is even been described as having better effects on patients than some forms of medication in certain situations.

Doctors are now being urged to give patients “Green prescriptions”, that are telling them to go outdoors and get some gardening done. The conditions it can help includes dementia, stress and depression, according to the research collected by the Growing Health project.

People who take up or do regular gardening session can also help people with health problems such as weight control and lowering high blood pressure. For those who don’t have a garden of their own, it is recommended that they should join a community project or scheme to help them with keeping fit and health, according to the advice of the experts.
