A number of other acquisitions followed, and FedEx’s many subsidiaries were created from these companies. For instance, the company bought Kinko’s, a printing and copying company, and it later became FedEx Office. FedEx has been recognised by Forbes for several years as one of the top five worldwide companies to work for.

FedEx Expecting Peak Sales On Cyber Monday

October 29th 2013

Worldwide courier servicer FedEx is expecting an increase of 11% in sales on Monday December 2 – otherwise known as Cyber Monday.

Cyber Monday is the start of the week following the Thanksgiving holiday, when employees return to work and begin to order Christmas presents from their computers at the office. FedEx are expecting around 22 million shipments this day, primarily from online retailers, which will make it the busiest day of the company’s year.

Both FedEx and United Parcel Service are likely to be affected by the pre-holiday season rush, as people hurry to purchase and mail out gifts to their loved ones. FedEx say that the week of December 1-7 is often the busiest week of the year, and this year they expect earnings to have risen 7-13%.

Shipment forecasts such as this one by FedEx are used as strong indications of the overall health of the economy, due to the sheer amount of parcels they move.
