Electronics and computing company Asus announced the release of their new budget tablet PCs earlier in October, just in time for consumers to get their hands on them for Christmas.
The two tablets, the Memo Pad 8 and Memo Pad 10, are the latest in a series of affordable, budget-friendly tablets created by the manufacturer to rival the likes of the newly launched Apple iPad Air and the Samsung Galaxy tablet. They are available for the pleasing price of just £199.99.
Although the tablets are of varying sizes – 8 inch and 9 inch screens respectively – they are priced the same because what the Memo Pad 8 lacks in dimension, it makes up for in performance. It boasts a 5MP camera superior to the 10’s 2MP, and is also lighter than its larger companion, making it more handbag-compatible. Even though the 10 carries a larger battery, tests show it is only able to offer an extra half hour of battery life.
Both tablets each come with a 1.6GHz quad-core processor, a 1280 x 800 resolution IPS display, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSDXC slot and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. They also both run on the Android 4.2 platform.
The Asus Memo Pads 8 is currently available from many major high street retailers, such as Argos, Tesco, Littlewoods and Amazon.
Meanwhile, the 10 is available exclusively from Amazon or Ebuyer.
